Drops of life, Iran

Hello all
Nice to meet you here. We are happy to be a part of ENO and little by little we are spreading it through all schools in capital Tehran. We have planned to have a big meeting in treeplanting day in Iran and invite many schools to share with us tree planting activities and also spread the knowlege we have gained through climate change activities.
I hope through this blog we start to cooperate more efficiently with our twin schools. We now have a regular meeting among coordinators in Iran every Saturday planning for the future.
Wish all of you success
Love and Peace Mariam Mokhtari

Tree planting in Colombo, Sri Lanka

We received the script of the drama. Thanks!

On 4th February is National Day of Sri Lanka.

Last 20/01/2007 we organized a tree plant procession in Colombo.
It had a big publicity. Now our President will open National day celebrations
by planting a tree at 7.30 on 04th February.

National TV asked us to organize this tree planting programe around the
country. National Television Station gave a big publicity and I addressed
through National TV and request to plant trees to celebrate National Day.

National TV has made arrangements to give the media coverage at
all important events around the country. I believe unbelievable number
of trees will plant on 04/02/2007 in Sri Lanka.

Sincerely,
D.Ambalampitiya.

Briefly about the play

The Drops Of Life
– A Play About Tree Planting And Co-operation-

The original idea for this play came from the ENO Programme that organises a tree planting day on the international day for peace in September. There was a need for a play that could be performed at schools during this special day.

The Drops Of Life is a story where some animals are gathered by an owl. The animals decide to plant trees. They face some problems but get help from a child. They also learn that together they can do more. This play is about the importance of environmental protection and co-operation.

The Drops Of Life has been created purely on a voluntary basis. The original manuscript is made by a Finnish writer and artist, Mr Esko-Pekka Tiitinen. The music and the translation are by Mr Mika Vanhanen. The Drops Of Life will be performed by children and youth around the world. It lasts about 15-20 minutes and includes four songs . This play may be translated into different languages by teachers.

The animals in this play represent mostly endangered species and come from different parts of the world. Information about species and environmental issues will also be available for audience at schools.

The world premiere took place on the 29th of May 2007 simultaneously in every continent, to celebrate the World Environment Day 2007. The Drops Of Life was one of the activities for the ENO Tree Planting Campaign 2007.

About this blog

Environment Online - ENO is a global virtual school and networkd for sustainable development that started in 2000. Tree planting has been the most popular activity since 2004. To get more schools involved tree planting activity was connected to arts.

This art project started in 2007 with a play The Drops Of Life. It is an environmental play that was created totally on a voluntary basis. Schools around the world performed play as a world premiere on the 29th of May 2007, simultaneously in every continent. It was to celebrate the World Environment Day 2007.  The Drops of Life was published then as a book in 2010 and based on the story, ENO kids around the world are writing their stories for Peace Forest, an online book about environment and peace to be published 16th of September 2011 in the ENO Conference 2011. So far ENO schools have planted 5 million trees and aim to plant 100 million trees by 2017.

This blog is for participants and everybody interested. In the blog we share ideas and comments about the play, follow the progress at schools before the premiere and share tips and information about this play at schools around the world.
