Sue the Bird

Far in the mountains in St. Kitts a little bird named Sue was flying late in the cold and windy night back to Cayon with her two eggs, but the wind was too heavy for her to fly in. So the little bird flew down in the dark forest and saw a tree with a hole in it. So Sue flew up and went in the hole to rest for the night.

The next day Sue woke up and saw a butterfly, a ladybug and a snail in front of her. "Who are you?" asked the snail. "I am Sue", replied the bird. "I'm Sandra the butterfly, Molly the Snail and Dolly the ladybug" said Sandra. "How did you get here?" asked Molly. Sue told them what had happened to her the other night. They felt sorry for Sue. "We are going to help you" said the ladybug. "I am happy for your help" said Sue.

They went out of the hole and went on the ground. "Hey! Sue, can't you fly back to Cayon?" asked Dolly. "Yes" she answered. But when Sue flapped her wings she could not fly. They wondered why Sue could not fly; it was a mystery to them. They could not worry about that. They walked and walked until Molly was tired. Molly got back up and started walking. "Aren't you guys coming?" Sue was worried about her two eggs. "Don't worry" said Sandra.

They went to a pelican named Ben for help. "What are we doing here?" said Sue. "We are here so Mr. Ben and you could fly back to Cayon." Mr. Ben was ready to go but Sue told him to wait, "are you guys coming or not?" They were so happy they went with her to Cayon. Sue went back to the tree where she left her nest. She was in time to see her two eggs hatched. Sue was so happy her friends from the forest told her that they were going to stay with her, and from that day on they lived happily ever after.

The call of Lanin

The araucana pigeon puma and returned to the Andean Patagonian forest and told how they lived, they were all listening attentively: coihue, Raulí, oak Pellin, Ñire, mixed with beautiful flowers of all colors: Mutisia, Amancay and Orchids. They could not believe that the seeds of native trees grow so easily, and they had a land called Africa...
Also heard native wild animals as the pudu pudu, huemul, huillin, mara, the armadillo, the great condor and the ostrich. And the alien, brought from distant lands, such as wild boar, red deer, fox, wanted to hear what had the puma and the Pigeon araucana.
Colihue cane suddenly said: "What if we do the same here? If we sow seeds Pehuen?. We know how important forests for life. "
The camera was not so convinced, but agreed, like the cachana, they were talking about more. Then all together, trees, flowers, exotic and native animals, began to plant pine nuts, which are the seeds of pehuen. So happy were they not realize that this year, in June, the Wiñoy Tripantu (new year) had been different... no rain, no life.

Autumn is then presented cold, and most of the wolf spider family had to move or die. Leaves, did not stop the wind swirl.

And the summer... the summer surprised everyone with an unbearable heat. There was so much drought that huillín, who lives on the banks of streams and rivers, and had no ruka (home). The enormous huemul, I had no strength to search the rich grass that he loved and did not have. Could no longer see the forest monkey, jumping from branch to branch. The great condor and master of the heights could not raise his two meter wings. The maras were you want to run. Piches ate the dust of such drought. And the Pehuen seeds were dying ....

Looking at this time was Pillan, the owner and master of Volcan Lanin, who immediately summoned an camarikun (Mapuche ancestral ceremony), to ask the mapu a little water. For three full days celebrating, offering and asking the Nuque mapu (Mother Earth) and the chao Antu (Father Sun) make it rain so that the seeds of Pehuen (Araucaria) and did not grow more drought.

Then the third night I talk killen (moon) and said "the mapu is threatened, no one hears their murmurs that come and go begging, screaming, do not destroy the Mapu, who let the perch swim in peace, that we kill the oil and gas waste. The tribes of animals proposed excited and surprised killen fulfill what had been requested. And it rained heavily for four days and then this could be seen as sticking the first leaves millenary Pehuen. Each animal promised to bring the message to a man and a woman, not destruction and pollution not Wall Mapu (territory), and the importance of each being in this world.

The talking tree

Once upon a time, there were some children playing on the Great Forest. They were very naughty children, trying to rip the leaves from the trees, hanging from the branches, and throwing trash around.

After a while, one of the children got scared because the tree he was hanging of started to come alive, it started to move and to talk.

“What is going on? Why is the tree moving and talking to us?” they asked themselves surprised.

“Children, Why are you ripping off my leaves and hanging from my branches? You are dirtying up the Great Forest instead of throwing the trash into a wastebasket. It hurts me, I am a living being,” said the tree, very sadly.

“There is no reason to do this to me,” he continued. “Did you know that thanks to us, the trees, there’s oxygen in the world? Birds have places to build their nests and have baby birds. Thanks to us trees you have paper and doors at school and home, tables, desks and many more things. Why are you destroying us? Trees are useful, even if you children don’t know it. If you take care of us, we can give you more things to enjoy.”

“You’re right, Mr. Tree, we have understood our mistake.”

“Don’t worry children, you can help us by making signs and posters and place them in the Great Forest, teaching everyone else how to care for us.”

A Strange Dream

The owl sat on the branch of the old tree so it could rest after the long flight. After a while, it heard the elephant`s painful shrieks. He flew next to him and asked:
- What is it my friend? What happened to you?
And the elephant answered very slowly and in a lot of pain
- The people attacked me and took out my teeth. They said that I don`t need them, but for them my teeth are priceless...
At the same moment, the crocodile came out of the river and said:
- They wanted to take off my skin, but I managed to escape them!
The fox that was just passing by heard the conversation and joined them:
- It is good that you survived because I barely got out of it alive! They chased me for a long time, but all they managed to do is cut my tale.
- You all had luck- said the owl with a voice full of pain. I just visited the young deer. The same people killed his parents and left it alone. It is an orphan now!
- Oh my God, what a tragedy! - said the fox
In that moment, the rabbit came running and said
- What is happening? - the animals asked.
- Run as fast as you can!- said the rabbit using his last sources of energy.
- Where should we run? - the crocodile asked.
- And why should we do it? This is our home! - the owl added.
- I am sorry Mr. Owl, but you don`t have a home anymore. The hundred- year old tree you lived in was attacked first! - the rabbit answered tiredly. He explained to the animals how a lot of machines controlled by people were brought into the forest so they can ruin everything so they can build a park. They were determined to ruin the whole forest including all the animals.
- That is so scary and not human!- cried the fox together with all the animals.
But then, in a lot of pain and hearing a strange noise, the owl opened its eyes and realized it was all a dream.
- Oh I am so glad this was just a dream. But then he heard the noise from a machine and that made him ask himself
- Was this just a dream or is it real?

Art and creativity has been an important part in ENO Tree Planting events. We started with the play “The Drops of Life” in 2007, a play about the importance of trees and global co-operation.

Based on the play, a new book was published this year, also called The Drops Of Life. ENO students will write their continuation and draw or paint pictures of their stories. These stories will be chosen for a new book by ENO students, called “The Peace Forest”. One book is not all. Each ENO school is asked to make their own book based on stories of their students. Then we altogether will make about 7 000 books! Depending on resources, they can be in English or in mother language, online or only as a paper version at schools.

This new book will be online and available for everybody interested. It will be published 16^th of September 2011, in the ENO Conference in

Finland . "Peace Forest" will be also given to world leaders in the UN General Summit, 21st of September, also known as The International Day For Peace.

The Drops of Life will be widely performed by schools on the next tree planting day, 22nd of May. It has been translated into many languages. The latest translation is here in Arabic by Shirin Meysa Al-Khass!

Students at Al-Dasma Inter. School for Girls in Kuwait city will have their premier on 21st of May 2009. Their teacher is Shirin Meysar Al-Khass who suggested this translation.

The Drops Of Life workshop in Stavanger, Norway!

Students from Pataluoto Schools and teacher Mika Vanhanen organised a workshop in the International Children's conference on the Environment (TUNZA 2008) in Stavanger Norway .

The workshop was called "Learning about environment through songs". Students performed the play and taught two other songs ( You Control The Climate Change and Hi And Ho We Plant Trees!). There were kids from Norway, UK, Vietnam and Cuba.

Class 6D from Collège Raoul Rebout, Montlouis France will perform our play in Children's Theatre Festival in Marano, Italy. They have made a blog where you can see more info.

A group of 5th and 6th graders from a Finnish Pataluoto School will perform the play in the Tunza International Children's Conference on Environment 2008. This event will be held 16-21 June in Stavanger, Norway. The manuscripts in different languages will be handed out to children delegates from other countries. About 1 000 kids from 106 countries will take part!

Collège Raoul Rebout in Montlouis are at the moment working on The Drops Of Life. School is in the process of studying the play and have worked, with the French and maths teacher of a year 7class (24 children, 11-12 years old). They are planning to plant a tree at school and also in the village where they live. The kids are very motivated. They started with the study of a book from Jean Giono called "Lhomme qui plantait les arbres" and are planning on making a blog about their work. Their premiere will take place at the beginning of May. The decor will be done by the children with the art teacher and the songs studied with the music teacher.

ENO is a winner of The Global Junior Challenge Awards 2007

ENO-Environment Online was one of the winners in the Global Junior Challenge Awards. Out of 600 projects from 80 countries, an international jury selected 100 as a finalists. These projects were presented in the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale Galileo Galilei. The winners were announced during the award ceremony that took place in the beautiful Giulio Cesar Room in the Campidoglio City Hall. They were also invited to meet the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano in the Quirinale Palace.

The Global Junior Challenge is a global award promoted by the Digital World Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the Municipality of Rome and six major ICT companies. The intention of the award, dedicated to young people and to schools, is to identify and reward best practices on the use of new technologies in education and training of youngsters.

Drops Of Life on ENO Tree Planting Day in Turkey

We are glad to inform you that our students performed “The Drops of Life” on ENO Tree Planting Day, September 21, 2007. It was greatly appreciated by everybody present for the event. The message given by the play was very significant.

As we don’t have a hall in our school, the play was performed in the school garden. It was also worked in a very short time (3 days) so that we couldn’t prepare any costumes. The students wore caps having the pictures of the animals on them. However, despite these circumstances they put up a good performance.

Dear Mr Tiitinen and Mr Vanhanen,

First of all we would like to congratulate you on the verses and music of the Play "The Drops of Life".

We are happy to inform you that we put up the play last June 12th on the occasion of our school's annual Prize-Giving Evening. The students were prepared by our Drama and Musci teachers and the play was a success. It was greatly appreciated by the parents present for the event. And we are sure that the central message got through. Our school does not have a hall, and so we used the school grounds as a natural setting: this helped to create the right atmosphere.

To commemorate World Environment Day, we planted a sapling of the Maltese National Tree (called "Gharghar") in the school yard. Besides, our pupils (who number just 120) organized fund-raising activities to collect funds to be used to 'adopt' more trees. So far they have managed to collect enough money to adopt 7 trees. These, together with other trees sponsored by other schools, will be planted during a National Tree-Planting event to be held some time next October.

It was a wonderful day for every participants who came to Lumbini Theatre in Colombo.
I congratulate for you and author Esko-Pekka. It is very familiar for our culture.
Songs were very close to our hearts.

On 5th over 800 teachers, adults and visitors gathered with children.Over 15 leading schools in Colombo principals,teachers and students came to see the drama. chief guest was Mrs. Anusha Gokula. Asst; secretary of Cultural Ministry.. Finnish consul didn't come or didn't reply for our invitation. But it was a great window to introduce about Finland. Our children have a few knowledge about Finland. On 5th they understood more about your motherland. Special lecturer were delivwred by Dr. Galabada Arachchi,a famous scientist in Sri lanka.Mr. Amarajeewa the principal of Lumbini College, Mr. Chandrasiri, Environment commissioner for Colombo District were among the invitees.Mr. Cooray now most famous comedy king,visited here delighted the function.

"The Drops of Life" at School 2 Galati, Romania

The World Environment Day on 5 June was celebrated by the pupils of our school who participated to lots of activities organised to take place in and also out of the school.

The performance of "The Drops of Life" was one of the special events particularly because the play is the means that unites children and adults from all over the world. It was a unique way to encourage the audience and the community to struggle for tolerence, peace and above all, the protection of the environment.

The pupils-actors from class 7A, their English teacher, Ms Georgiana Munteanu and their physics teacher, Mr Florin Puiu Stan who guided them step by step during the rehearsals, were very excited and happy to see the reaction of the audience to the challenging message of the play. It was the proof that each little thought, word or action counts when it comes from the heart.

I spoke about the ENO programme and what we are doing, particularly the play last week and treeplanting. The local radio was so impressed that they are interviewing our Principal today, live on air, to see what we are doing for environmental education here at Riverlands School in Blenheim. Apparently the newspaper has just phoned and wants to interview us as well. So the publicity is a bit late but it is happening.

At last the premiere day came. We all were a bit scared but excited and happy. We played on the stage of the Youth Theatre Pioneer in the centre of the town. Many teachers and students came, all students from the ECO club 'Clovers', friends even the parents. The performance was announced in the national Darik Radio broadcast, because we were the only school from Bulgaria which took part in the world premiere. The audience wanted to give moral support to performers because it was their first performance on the stage and the play was in English. There was a cameraman from the local cable TV who made a film. Everything was great and there were flowers and presents to performers at the end of the play. It was an unforgettable experience and even the lady, who is the director of the youth theatre asked a permission to use the play in Bulgarian with her actors to perform the play in front of the kids from the kindergartens and primary schools in autumn. The world premiere became a great lesson how we all together can make the difference and to help our Earth to survive!

Hello!

On the day of the world premiere our young actors were really excited because they were finally going to perform The Drops of Life at school: for their school-mates and other pupils. The excitement was even bigger at the end of the play, both - the actors and the audience enjoyed it very much. They all thought about one thing only: what is the solution to the problem? Numerous ideas regarding preserving the environment and the planet roused up in their little heads. However, they still take good care of the tree which we planted in September.

Soon we intend to perform the play at other schools and kindergartens too.

Here are pictures from our premiere production of Drops of Life! Our younger students performed the play in Romanian and our older students performed it in English. The Drops of Life has finally come to the old Danube city, Galati. The play was a real hit, a real "drop" with the purpose to save the environment. On everyone's faces you could read the joy and happiness of being together with all the other children from around the world.

It was a really exciting day - the 29 of May, 2007!
The participants of the ENO project, the 5b and 6a formers, together with their class teachers Rasa and Violeta, and music teacher Dalia showed an unforgettable play "THE DROPS OF LIFE" for all the school community. We had a guest from the Environment agency Nerijus Ablingis who evaluated the play and our pupils' effort to do their best as to protect and save our nature. The words of the last song "There are no Walls" inspired everybody to have in mind how important it is to live, love and care of every living being in whatever corner it may be.
There were reporters from the newspapers and Television, some parents, too.

We Are Part of the World

On the 29th of May 2007 Lithuania was among those 65 countries which took part in the world premiere of the play „The Drops of Life". The students of Class 8c in Vilnius „Juventos" gymnasium did their best to get ready for the performance. We invited teachers, students and parents to enjoy the event. The audience was rather excited and liked the performance very much. There was loud applause for the actors and singers. The performance was a great success. All those present understood that environmental protection is a really urgent problem and something must be done to solve it.

They are very young, kids from 7 - 10 years, so our performance was in Slovak language. It was raining all day, so our performance was taking place in a classroom.

Our common premiere went on smoothly in our school. Kids did the play with a lot of enthusiasm and Mrs. Irena Senica was very glad about everything. We had two teams of children performing in both languages (Slovenian and English) and it was really nice. I could tell that the kids enjoyed the play just as well if not even more than the rest of us. We invited a representative from our National Environmental Coordination Office and there was also a few members from the local community present. Our school also used this opportunity to sign up the document which grants us the Eco-flag.

A Phenomenal Global Children's Play Today in 65 countries!

Joensuu, Finland

A new children's play called The Drops Of Life will have its world premiere today. This play is about the importance of environmental protection and co-operation. The original idea for this play came from the ENO Programme that organises a tree planting day on the international day for peace in September. There was a need for a play that could be performed at schools to celebrate the day.

The Drops Of Life has been created purely on a voluntary basis. The original manuscript is made by a Finnish writer and artist, Mr Esko-Pekka Tiitinen. The music and the English translation are by Mr Mika Vanhanen, the co-founder and co-ordinator of the ENO Programme.

The premiere on the 29th of May will be very special because it will take place simultaneously at ENO schools in about 65 countries, on every continent. The manuscript is available will cover over 40 languages. The Drops Of Life is a highlight for the World Environment Day 2007. It is also a part of ENO 2007 Tree Planting Campaign and linked to UNEP's Billion Tree Campaign. The Finnish premier will be streamed online from Finland today at 3:30 UTC.

Tree planting in Sierra Leone, Africa

Members of Youth Awareness and Voluntary Group Sierra Leone organized a tree planting exercise on the 8 th May 2007 and also celebrate ENO Tree planting Day.

We organized a Foot ball Competition between junior staff and senior staff. And we planned to plant and other trees on September and June. This one on 8th May 2007 was in a matter of worried and rush and the information was given to us lately by our fellow organization partners.

Thus we invite journalist to witness the celebration and it's was been publish by the media.

And this tree was planted around the sea side of the western part of the country Freetown Sierra Leone where disaster, flooding, erosion etc are expected to occur.

The attachment is pictures taking during the performance in the planting event. We promise to do more in other to protect and prevent our environment, our world, our future and for the unborn generation.
