The country of Koala is in!

ENO School from Australia will join us perform The Drops Of Life. This school is Scotch College and comes from Hawthorn, Victoria. As Koala is one of animals in the play it is good to have our play in its home country.

Audio or live coverage from schools?

Hi,

just an idea: to get some interaction between schools it would be nice to get some greetings from participating schools. They could be audio or video clipses.

As we have ENO Radio Station it would also be nice to get some stuff about the play in the ENO radio, even now before the premiere 29th of May.

Please let me know if you have a possibility to send some audio stuff, interviews, photos etc.

The Drops Of Life in New Zealand

Today we received a confirmation that our play will be performed in Oceania. Riverlands School from Marlborough (New Zealand) will perform The Drops Of Life. The date (29MAY) suits perfectly for them as it is a school assembly so they will perform it there. Their school is back on deck after long summer holidays.

I made two versions. In the first I sing (with an optional
second line in the chorus part). The other one is an instrumental
with melody only. In the vocal version I had to translate it
up to D because I am a tenor. The orginal version is in Bb. It is
easier for kids.

The language in the play, your comments?

The Drops of Life is written originally in Finnish. It has also been
translated into English. ENO teacher at Pataluoto School,
Mrs Minna Kettunen has helped me in this, thanks Minna!

I have heard about translations in Farsi and Hebrew.
You are welcome to translate it into your language. This way
more people will be aware of the play which is the purpose.

When it comes to songs it comes a bit more difficult and words
have to be fitted in melody and rhymes.

New participant from Nepal

ENO School from Katmandu, Nepal will join us. This school
Nobel Academy has just started after winter holiday. According
to their teacher Mr Nawaraj Baskota, his students are excited
to perform this play.

About the composer

MIKA VANHANEN (b. 1964 in Polvijärvi, Finland)

Mr Mika Vanhanen is a teacher who has composed songs
mostly for children. His musical background constists of
playing piano and keyboards, composing, singing, bands, making
arrangements and leading choirs and song groups. His latest songs
are linked to environmental issues and global co-operation.
He is a member of Finnish Composers' Copyright Society.

About the author, Mr Esko-Pekka Tiitinen

ESKO-PEKKA TIITINEN (b.1956 in Suonenjoki, Finland) is a highly acclaimed and awarded Finnish author and artist. Tiitinen's talents are recognised over several professional fields. He has an active career as an author, theatre director, scriptwriter, composer, song writer and playwright.

He has to date written over twenty books, several theatre plays, radio plays, opera librettos, tv-scripts and exhibited his artwork both home and abroad.
