Bilingual performances

As the language can be a barrier, many teachers around the world have translated the play into their native languages. For instance, in South Africa this play will be translated into 8 languages out of their 11 official ones! You can find the manuscripts in different languages under "MANUSCRIPT&MUSIC".

It is not easy to translate the songs. Many schools will perform the play in their own language but sing the songs in English. Some schools do the play also in English even though it is not an official language in their country.

For instance SchoolNetMali-Mokoya Juru from Bamako (Mali) will perform this play in French but the kids will sing the songs in English. They will also be intereviewed and their comments will be heard later in ENO Radio. Deborah Soumaoro is the coordinator of this play in Mali.

More participants from Trinidad Tobago

Two more schools and clubs will join The Drops Of Life in Trinidad Tobago. Involved will be ASPNet and UNESCO clubs, two new schools: Curepe Anglican Primary, and Patna Village Primary. They will have assistance from the Creative Arts Section of the University, and they hope to use local steelband music from the schools.

The co-ordinator of these events is Gia Gaspard-Taylor.

Tree planting in Azerbaijan

We traditionally celebrate Novruz holiday on the 21 March taking care of our environment. For now above 1 million trees (fir-trees and pines) have been planted in various parts-regions of Azerbaijan. Over 100 000 trees have been planted in the Capital of Azerbaijan- Baku.

The process is going on as it's the best time for planting trees and bushes here. There are 65 administrative regions in my country and each region has recieved 60 thousand trees to plant. So it's a huge number and we hope that all the trees will grow well.

Now, on the whole Republic of Azerbaijan over half a million trees have been planted up today. The event is carried out by the foundation of President Heydar Aliyev. The foundation sends seedlings , trees and bushes to every corner of the Republic. A group of our school children went to the remote Guba region and planted trees in the area of summer camp for children. These students are to come back after finishing school and visit it . Each graduate of the Modern Educational Complex is to continue planting trees tradition each year.

Kindest regards
